From crisis to comeback: Navigating an SOS Event

Jeremy Miller

Sometimes, the business world throws you a curveball…

A pandemic, a regulatory shift, or a sudden market disruption. Your revenue drops quickly, and the old rules no longer apply. This is an SOS Event: a sudden or unexpected crisis demanding rapid adaptation.

How you got here

It’s almost guaranteed that your business will face a major disruption, whether it’s a global crisis like COVID-19, sudden supply chain breaks, or regulatory upheaval. SOS Events can upend even the most stable businesses. Traditional sales and marketing tactics often fail, and customer needs shift rapidly.

But here’s the key: periods of change are also periods of opportunity. Companies that move quickly, adapt faster, and rethink their approach can not only survive, they can gain a competitive advantage.

Kings are made in downturns and times of disruption, and the businesses that thrive are the ones that see change as a chance to level up. Our motto is the companies that act fast and adapt faster gain the advantage.

So, when your business is caught in these storms it’s not the end. You must rethink your customer focus, value proposition, and operational model quickly, or you may risk collapse.

Why it’s hard to see

In a crisis, survival instincts take over.

It’s tempting to rely on old strategies, but they often don’t fit the new reality. Using the wrong sales and marketing tactics in these moments can waste valuable time and drain cash flow, making the situation even more challenging. The pace and uncertainty make it hard to get clear on what’s really needed to pivot effectively.
